Gianni Ruffinatti

Born in Torino Italy in 1949, while still a high school student, in the late sixties, I started to spend good part of my school holidays traveling with the most experienced service engineers of my father's machinery company helping them in the installation and start up of our machines at the customer's site mainly in Continental Europe.

In 1970, after my graduation, I started my apprenticeship in candy making at Boots Chemist in Beeston, UK in order to acquire a hands on experience in running candy production equipment as well as understanding the developing process of sugar confectionery formulation. Boots was and still is one of the most important multinational producers of pharmaceutical candies and products.

In May 1971 I succeeded to my father as chairman and managing director of my family's company RUFFINATTI sas and, in my position, I had the chance to cooperate with most of the major international confectionery producers, both in the product research and development as well as in the engineering and project management fields.

In 2004, CONFITECH srl, managed by my nephew Alessandro Pietra, took over the machinery manufacturing business and since then I assist this younger company supporting it in the development and implementation of new technologies and systems for the automation of the candy production.
